FROM TØNSBERG TO TOKYO AND BEYOND
9th March 2010

Today Leif Ove Andsnes and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra join forces for the start of a tour which takes them from Norway across the world to Japan and Korea. Regular collaborators and friends, Leif Ove last visited Asia with the ensemble exactly five years ago and were warmly welcomed by the Korean press which commented on the "natural flow of music that persuaded you to sing along".

With concerts in Hyogo and Tokyo (Japan) as well as Tongyeong and Seoul (Korea), Leif Ove and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra will perform two different programmes centered around Mozart's piano concertos No. 14 in E minor (K.449), No.23 in A major (K.488) and No. 24 in C minor (K.491) which he will conduct from the keyboard.

The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and Leif Ove Andsnes have been both regular musical partners and friends for many years. They have recorded Haydn and Mozart piano concertos together for EMI Classics and many of the ensemble's players are resident in Risør each summer at Leif Ove's festival in the Norwegian "Riviera". Reviewing their most recent recording of Mozart Piano Concertos the BBC Music Magazine wrote: "Theirs is music-making that radiates enjoyment, with splendidly alert orchestral playing, and Andsnes revealing himself to be a Mozartian of unselfconscious eloquence."

Leif Ove will join the ensemble again this summer with concerts at Bergen International Festival and Tivoli Copenhagen.
